Seven drawers stacked one above the other, one for each day of the week. That is where the French name Semainier comes from. Made around 1880 from walnut, each drawer with its own key escutcheon, and a cornice topping it off. For transport, it can be separated into an upper and lower section.
Living with antique furniture
What a piece like this is for.
When the apartment is older than the furniture in it.
Ornamental plaster on the ceiling, floorboards, a long wall. Next to it, a new chest of drawers that looks lost there.
A chest of drawers from the Gründerzeit dates from the same period as many of Berlin's old buildings.
When you work at home but do not have a home office.
The laptop and mail lie on the dining table and move to a chair in the evening.
A writing desk has its own writing surface: open the flap to work, close it, and everything is put away.
When there are sometimes four and sometimes more people at the table.
The neighbors come over on Fridays, and the folding table from the basement wobbles beside it.
An extendable dining table grows when guests come over, then becomes small again afterward.

Customer testimonials
Where the pieces are now.

“You can see how much work went into the restoration. The armchair feels like new, but has retained the soul of its time.”Marina Gruz

“I didn't want an off-the-shelf piece of furniture, but something with a story. The armchair and the little table beside it turn an empty corner into the most beautiful spot in the apartment.”Eva-Maria Drewes

“I didn't want a plastic desk for my child. This one is 60 years old, and the chair with the green leather fits as if the two had always belonged together. The furniture will probably live to see their children, too.”Juliane Bender
